This update is in regards to a recent change to supply costs for consumers and businesses in the PJM region.
On January 31, 2017, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued an order assigning the cost of “balancing congestion” to competitive load serving entities. This has resulted in a new charge for these entities and raises the cost of serving customers in the PJM region.
The change became effective on June 1, 2017 and affects all customers in PJM’s footprint since balancing congestion charges was not previously part of our supply charges. Because this is a completely new charge in the market, we are still assessing its impact on our customers’ prices and products. We expect to send affected customers a letter with details about the exact effect of the new charge.
